Jack.org’s digital channels are essential to how we connect with youth, supporters, and partners across Canada. Through compelling storytelling and thoughtful community engagement, we raise awareness, inspire action, and create safe spaces for important conversations about youth mental health. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Marketing & Communication, with a dotted line to the Director, Communications & Strategic Storytelling, the Content & Community Specialist supports the day-to-day management and execution of Jack.org’s owned digital channels, including social media and web. This role ensures our content resonates with audiences, reflects our mission, and fosters a safe, inclusive, and engaged online community.



Key Responsibilities


Content Creation & Community Engagement



  • Support the planning, creation, and publishing of content across social media and website channels

  • Develop engaging, platform-specific content (copy, graphics, video) aligned with brand voice and strategy

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to produce safe, authentic storytelling content

  • Monitor and engage with online communities, responding to comments and messages in a timely and thoughtful manner

  • Support identification and coordination of influencers, creators, and partners, and help maintain those relationships

  • Execute integrated campaigns across owned channels in collaboration with the Marketing & Communications team

  • Interpret mental health research and translate insights into accessible, engaging content

  • Work with Digital Marketing to review analytics and optimize content based on trends and audience needs

  • Assist in developing creative briefs and coordinating with designers and content creators

  • Support paid social campaigns through content development and testing


Public Relations & Media Support



  • Support execution of communications and PR plans to elevate programs, advocacy, and impact

  • Assist in developing materials such as news releases, key messages, media pitches, blog posts, and speaking notes

  • Monitor media coverage and support tracking, analysis, and reporting on performance and trends

  • Help triage media inquiries and coordinate with spokespeople and internal stakeholders

  • Conduct media and landscape research to identify storytelling and thought leadership opportunities

  • Collaborate with internal teams to align media relations with social content and campaigns

  • Support proactive storytelling that amplifies youth voices and organizational impact


Community Insights & Optimization



  • Track and report on social media performance and engagement metrics

  • Monitor trends, conversations, and platform updates to inform content strategies

  • Support social listening and community feedback initiatives

  • Analyze audience behaviour and campaign performance, contributing to optimization recommendations

  • Help build audience insights across key groups, including youth, supporters, and donors


Collaboration & Process



  • Support content workflows, including scheduling, publishing, and production coordination

  • Maintain and update the social media and content calendar

  • Apply best practices for posting, engagement, and community management

  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure alignment across campaigns and initiatives

  • Liaise with external vendors and contributors as needed

  • Contribute to internal reporting and documentation



Qualifications & Requirements



  • 2–3 years of experience in content creation, social media, or web/digital blog content

  • 1-2 years of experience in community management

  • Strong writing and storytelling skills, with an ability to create engaging, audience-first content

  • Interest in youth engagement, storytelling, and digital community building

  • Personal commitment to mental health advocacy and a willingness to learn

  • Ability to work collaboratively and take initiative in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail

  • Comfortable working with data and using insights to improve content performance

  • High emotional intelligence and ability to approach sensitive topics with care

  • Experience with influencer coordination or partnerships is an asset

  • Experience with video editing, graphic design, or content creation tools is an asset

  • Bilingualism (English and French) is a strong asset

This position is based in Toronto and typically follows a hybrid work model, however, candidates based elsewhere in Canada may also be considered for a fully remote arrangement. This is a full-time, 1 year contract role.
