Job Description - Continuous Improvement Manager - Edmonton

As a member of the leadership team, reporting to the Senior Vice President of Information, the Continuous Improvement Manager works towards driving operational excellence across KAG Canada by providing leadership in Quality Assurance throughout the organization aligning Six Sigma Methodologies with activities / projects with the company vision and strategy. Establishing and streamlining processes with measurable key performance indicators (KPIs) while reducing redundancy are imperative focus items in providing the essential framework for KAG Canada to deliver the highest level of customer service with an overall focus on cost control.

About the position:
  • Training both leadership and frontline employees on Six Sigma methodologies and tools to engage employees in daily, sustainable problem solving, establish consistent practices, and help drive a common culture and language around continuous improvement
  • Researching, developing, and initiating short-term and long-term goals and objectives for the continuous improvement function of the organization
  • Serving as Project Manager for assigned projects and participates in the development, implementation, and sustainability of specific Six Sigma initiative assignments, and operational improvement areas as identified
  • Creating and implementing business plans to meet set objectives.
  • Direct the implementation of Six Sigma for maximum results.
  • Responsible for successfully executing the assigned plans and tasks.
  • Provide support to lean principles, analyze and plan work force utilization, and workflow for maximum efficiency and flow.
  • Provide support to establish standardized guidelines, work practices and principles by utilizing Six Sigma methodology and creating an environment for never ending improvement.
  • Support and assist in coordinating, tracking activities, drive daily and long-term continuous improvement initiatives/projects.
  • Support the leadership team to prioritize and identify improvement initiatives, looking critically at the business and bringing forward ideas to gain efficiencies.
  • Analyze improvement programs and predict potential outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain performance metrics to measure the success of the projects.
  • Provide support to teach and lead cross functional teams through Lean Six Sigma methodologies
  • Assist in identifying, implementing, and tracking KPI's to ensure progress.
  • Coordinate training and technical support on new or existing processes.
  • Create graphs for reporting/data purposes.
  • Update and tracks KPI’s weekly month and forms measurement of KPI’s etc.
  • Documentation of business processes.
  • Lend support to an operating culture that promotes involvement, communication, expectations and accountability and a passion for excellence.
What you bring:
  • Lean Six Sigma Certified Black Belt
  • Courses and background in statistical analysis as it relates to the use in Lean Six Sigma applications.
  • Strong critical thinking ability with sound judgment, decision-making skills, good problem identification and problem resolution skills
  • Strong organizational skills required to balance the demands across a multitude of open projects and teams.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to accurately complete required paperwork
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, analytical and interpretive skills.
  • Excellent time, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient in data organization and manipulation in Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to develop and maintain successful working relationships with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Previous experience with continuous improvement/process improvement work
  • Previous experience in the transportation industry will be heavily weighted as a plus
  • Power BI desirable
