NAIT’s Department of Continuing Education is seeking Contract Instructors to teach Small Engine Repair courses. Contract Instructors must be flexible, resourceful, innovative and passionate about teaching adults of all ages and backgrounds. 

The terms of these contracts will vary in duration.

Contract Instruction Deliverables:

  • Delivering theory and shop instruction to students at the hobbyist level

  • Preparation, operation, and maintenance of equipment and shop facilities for instructional purposes

  • Preparation of learning resources and course materials

  • Organization and supervision of practical assignments and assessments

  • Provision of online student instruction

  • Conducting student evaluations and submitting grades

  • Collaborating with course administrators to ensure positive student experiences

  • Maintaining inventory of shop supplies and requesting items to restock

  • Presenting course material professionally

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive, respectful relationships with diverse learners and colleagues

  • A strong commitment to student success, including motivating learners and supporting academic achievement

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, suitable for instructional, advisory, and collaborative settings

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and related educational technologies

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience and training with small engines

  • Previous instructional experience would be an asset

  • Flexible schedule as operational needs require

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) or the Comparative Education Services (CES).

Work Hours:

  • Part-time, variable.

NOTE: Contract hours are for evening and weekend class delivery.
