  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors and coordinate audit activities; manage tax compliance in partnership with external advisors.

  • Manage financial reporting requirements for government grants and non-dilutive funding, including applications, claims, schedules, and audit support.

  • Help establish, document, and maintain fit-for-purpose accounting policies and internal controls as the company scales.

  • Oversee third-party bookkeeping support and help build toward an internal function.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve accounting and reporting workflows.

  • Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team environment.

  • Help shape the finance team structure, including future hiring and team leadership as the company grows.

Required Qualifications

  • CPA designation with 7-10+ years of progressive post-qualification experience

  • Strong technical accounting capability, ideally supported by a background in public accounting and audit

  • Experience managing end-to-end accounting operations

  • Proven track record leading monthly and annual close processes

  • Clear communication skills and the ability to explain complex accounting issues practically

  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and professional judgment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a growth-stage, scaling, or early commercial company environment

  • Familiarity with government grant reporting (e.g., IRAP, ACOA, or similar programs)

  • Track record of strengthening controls, workflows, or reporting processes

  • Ability to work effectively with external auditors and tax advisors
