Salary

The salary range for this position is CAD $38.13/Hr. - CAD $54.82/Hr.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager, the Coordinator Security Technology, Design & Service supports the delivery of Security Technologies across Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH). The Coordinator provides leadership in the design, development, implementation, maintenance, and operations of security technologies & programs in an assigned area in support of the goals, policies and strategic direction of VCH in a manner consistent with industry best practices ensuring a safe and reliable environment for the delivery of healthcare protection related services.


As a Coordinator, Security Technology, Design and Service with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:



  • Lead the design, development, implementation, operation, maintenance and evaluation of security technologies, security technology design and VCH Security Technology Standards in the assigned area of responsibility across VCH.

  • Act as liaison and provides consultative advice to leadership regarding security activities; participate in the development of action plans for the assigned area of responsibility including the investigation and determination of appropriate outcomes; provide advice to, and participate with, Human Resources, the Director/ Manager, and others in security investigations and activities involving staff. with a particular emphasis on those involving security or information technology.  Play a lead role in the application of security technology that may be required for sensitive investigations.

  • Maintain the security and integrity of security systems and related administrative processes.

  • Provide direction and make recommendations to internal and external partners, such as clinicians, general contractors, project managers, engineers, electrical consultants, and staff regarding the implementation of security technology related systems.

  • Develop, implement, and administer training/education/promotion programs relating to the use of security related systems and processes.

  • Support the preparation of operating and capital budgets associated with the administration and operation of applicable equipment, in collaboration with the Manager, Security Technology, Design & Service.  Develop and conduct audits relating to system use/potential abuse, make modifications as required. Develop and implement installation and programming standards for security related equipment.

  • Cooperate with affected departments/personnel, Human Resources, and external agencies, conduct risk and threat assessments and make recommendations relating to safety and security issues. Support clinical operations leadership and/or VCH Human Resources with investigations and determinations.

  • Take a lead role on issues related to systems and technology of the assigned area of responsibility, under the authority of the Manager, Security Technology, Design & Service.

  • Work with multiple partners to ensure project implementation is executed in a timely and efficient manner, maintaining integrity of design and project schedule.

  • Perform risk management throughout the project life cycle to minimize both known and unforeseen project risks and their negative impacts.

  • Provide status updates of work in progress and support with project forecasting.

  • Manage relationships with all project partners to bring forward innovative solutions that achieve compliance within the project budget.

  • Coordinate project delivery resources including employees and subcontractors.

  • Track project performance and report status and escalate as required.

Qualifications


Education & Experience



  • Diploma in Facilities Planning, Project Management, Criminal Justice and/or a related field; Trades Qualified (TQ) alarm installer and/or related TW certification.

  • Five (5) years' recent related experience in administering, maintaining and/or installing access control/photo identification, CCTV, duress/panic and intrusion systems, and/or associated hardware and software in a large complex multi-site institutional or campus environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Valid BC Driver’s license and access to a vehicle, as local area travel within the VCH geographic area will be required. May be required to provide after hours on-call responsibilities.

  • Working knowledge of appropriate legislation and provincial/national standards on protection standards, security, surveillance, and the protection of privacy.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the BC Health Care environment.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills to effectively to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.

  • Knowledge of risk management concepts and practices.

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team.

  • Demonstrated negotiation and facilitation skills while maintaining mutually beneficial vendor relations.

  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with key internal and external partners to promote and enhance services provided with sensitivity to diversity and indigenous lens.

  • Practices the recognition, inclusion and support of all types and aspects of diversity at all stages of engagement, with an understanding of the issues faced by people from equity-deserving groups.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills to foster a respectful and motivating work environment.

  • Ability to operate related equipment including related software applications.

  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
