Summary






JOB SUMMARY:

In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Providence Health Care, the position promotes a safe environment for patients, residents, families, visitors and staff.



Reporting to the Manager, Mission Integration & Volunteer Resources the Coordinator, Volunteer Resources organizes, coordinates and implements the volunteer program for Providence Health Care. The Coordinator works closely with staff team members, volunteers, family and community links in developing and coordinating a meaningful volunteer program that aligns with the Mission, Vision, Values and strategic directions of the organization, as defined by the PHC Mission:Forward Strategic Plan. The Coordinator works collaboratively within the broader Volunteer Resources team to build and enhance our Volunteer Resource programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
Undergraduate degree in a related field. Minimum of three years' experience in the coordination of volunteer resources, preferably in health care, and a certificate of Volunteer Management or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience acceptable to the organization. Familiarity with Better Impact an asset.

Skills and Abilities

Has an informed and competent understanding of the mission, vision, values and ethical framework of Providence Health Care

Has personal experience as a volunteer

Interest and experience in working with a varied client population including seniors and those who are vulnerable or marginalized

Ability to engage effectively with residents, patients, volunteers, the public and staff in an appropriate and courteous manner

Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing

Effective presentation and public speaking skills

Ability to operate related equipment and software programs, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation and graphics design software

Strong and consistent accuracy and attention to detail

Ability to organize, prioritize and multi-task

Sound decision making skills, good listener, team player and flexibility

Ability to encourage and motivate others

Mobile and has the ability to work at different Providence Health Care Sites.

Develops and implements the volunteer program at assigned site(s) in order to meet the needs of the residents and patients of that facility.



Recruits in an organized and ongoing manner targeting specific audiences for each position required.



Liaises closely with program leaders to understand ongoing volunteer program needs, to build comprehensive volunteer positions, and to help promote our Volunteer program internally.



Interviews and screens all applicants in a timely and professional manner.



Provides an in-depth volunteer orientation for all new volunteers, and any necessary ongoing training.



Supervises, supports, monitors and recognizes all volunteers. Works closely within the broader Mission and Volunteer Resources team to develop and build a comprehensive volunteer recognition program.



Evaluates overall program and individual volunteers.



Assists in supporting the assigned site(s) Gift Shop and Auxiliary/Guild with volunteers as applicable.



Maintains community linkages, renews and maintains professional memberships and applicable Volunteer Centre and counterpart memberships.



Prepares quarterly statistical and activity reports for the Manager, Mission Integration & Volunteer Resources.



Participates actively on related/assigned multidisciplinary teams/councils/program related task groups across sites as appropriate.



Pursues professional development as available and appropriate and keeps abreast of current trends within the field of Volunteer Management.



Promotes a positive community profile for Providence Health Care and the Volunteer Resources teams and liaises with varied community agencies.



Shares responsibility with all Coordinators for the Volunteer Programs across the sites in the absence of the Manager.



Performs other related duties as required.
