Coring Technician

Reporting to the Install Manager, the Coring Technician is responsible performing precise concrete core drilling to support HVAC equipment installations, while ensuring site safety and minimal disruption. The Coring Technician ensures precision, safety, and compliance with industry standards throughout the coring process, contributing to the overall efficiency and functionality of HVAC systems.

Responsibilities:

This position will include, but not be limited to the following:

Core Drilling and Execution:

• Perform concrete core drilling for HVAC equipment installation using appropriate tools and techniques to specified depths and diameters


• Ensure clean, precise core extractions while minimizing damage to surrounding areas.


• Monitor core quality and integrity throughout the process and report any irregularities.

Site Preparation and Clean Up:

• Assess the job site for access, safety, and readiness prior to starting work.


• Remove debris, and leftover materials after drilling is complete.


• Restore worksite to a clean and orderly condition upon completion of the job.

Equipment Operation and Maintenance:

• Operate coring equipment and handheld tools safely and effectively.


• Perform routine tool inspections to ensure equipment is in proper working condition.


• Maintain a clean and organized inventory of tools and consumables.

Team Support and Coordination:

• Communicate effectively with the Install Manager, installers, and other departments to align on work scopes and timelines.


• Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting equipment and materials to and from job sites.

Safety and Compliance Monitoring:

• Adhere to all safety protocols, including PPE use and hazard assessments.


• Identify and report any unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses immediately.


• Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable local, provincial, or federal safety regulations.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3-year driver’s license with clean abstract


• Problem solving skills


• Strong communication and teamwork skills


• Comfortable working in various weather and job site conditions


• Coring/construction experience is an asset


• Certification in Fall Protection is an asset
