The role:
The Corporate Services Adviser incorporates a variety of key corporate support services functions to support one or more Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) offices across the Americas region.
This position is based in Toronto and works as part of the Americas-wide team, under the direction of the Corporate Services Manager (CSM) delivering integrated and client-focused support across the region.
Duties include
The Corporate Services Adviser plays an important role in supporting the Austrade Trade and Investment Commissioner to effectively deliver the Americas business plan initiatives by:
• Finance administration activities including budget management and procurement.
• Processing payroll and managing employee benefits enrolment.
• Information technology support.
• Office and residential property administration.
• Human resource assistance (e.g. recruitment and training logistics; local leave and allowances management; personnel records and work health and safety co-ordination).
• Asset management (including motor vehicles), and security administration support
• Supporting Australian-based staff and their families as they transition to and from the Americas region.
• Assisting with the development and maintenance of Business Continuity and Risk Mitigation plans.
• Ensuring consistent compliance with Austrade policies and procedures, delegations, the Public Service Act (Australian), and local labour laws within the region.
• Establishing and fostering effective internal and external working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and clients, including Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAT), attached agencies, banks, government employment agencies etc.
• Working collaboratively within the Austrade network to contribute to service delivery and achieving desired outcomes, while upholding the Australian Public Service Values and Code of Conduct and Work Health and Safety (WHS) principles.

Eligibility
To be eligible for consideration and appointment you must have:
• Work Authorisation - to be eligible for employment with Austrade in Canada, candidates must be legally authorised to live and work in Canada at the time of appointment.
• Language - the successful candidate must be a highly motivated team member, fluent in written and spoken English.
• Security Clearance - the successful applicant must be willing to complete an Entry Level Screening Pack and be confirmed as a suitable person to access Government resources prior to commencement in the role.

This is a locally engaged position governed by Austrade’s Overseas Engaged Employees terms and conditions of employment and Canada labour law. Candidates must currently have the right to live and legally work in Canada. Austrade will not be able to provide any sponsorship letter nor be involved in the work visa application process.
