The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient movement of diluent and crude volumes across multiple pipeline systems, maintaining supply continuity, managing transportation logistics, and supporting commercial optimization opportunities. This position works closely with traders, counterparties, pipeline operators, producers, refiners, and internal operations teams. In addition to primary responsibility for diluent scheduling, the role will provide backup support for Gunvor's Canadian crude oil scheduling activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute daily, monthly, and ad hoc scheduling activities for Gunvor's diluent business.

  • Manage nominations, confirmations, inventory tracking, and movement reconciliation across multiple transportation systems.

  • Schedule imported C5 and other diluent streams into Canada through key cross-border and Canadian pipeline networks.

  • Coordinate transportation movements on:

    • Explorer Pipeline

    • Enterprise Teppco Pipeline

    • Cochin Pipeline

    • Southern Lights Pipeline

    • Peace Pipeline System

    • Enbridge CRW

    • Keyera Fort Saskatchewan Pipeline

    • Additional feeder, hub, terminal, and storage assets as required

  • Monitor transportation constraints, apportionment, outages, and operational disruptions while developing contingency plans to minimize impacts.

  • Maintain accurate inventory positions and supply-demand balances.

  • Reconcile scheduled movements against actual receipts and deliveries.

  • Work closely with traders to ensure commercial deals are accurately reflected in scheduling and logistics systems.

  • Identify opportunities to improve transportation efficiency, reduce logistics costs, and support trading optimization initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with pipeline operators, counterparties, terminals, producers, and refiners.

  • Support month-end close processes, reporting requirements, and logistics performance tracking.

  • Provide backup scheduling support for Canadian crude oil transportation and logistics activities.

  • Participate in on-call coverage and respond to operational issues outside of standard business hours when required.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Energy Management, MIS or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.

  • Proficiency in Python, including the ability to write, debug, and maintain scripts for data processing and workflow automation

  • Exposure to automation principles, including building repeatable processes to reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency

  • Familiarity with data handling concepts such as data extraction, cleaning, transformation, and validation across multiple sources and formats

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced trading environment.

  • Strong communication and relationship management skills.

Preferred

  • Direct experience scheduling on Explorer, TEPPCO, Cochin, Southern Lights, Peace, CRW, FSPL, or similar pipeline systems.

  • Knowledge of Western Canadian crude oil, condensate, and diluent markets.

  • Experience supporting physical commodity trading organizations.

  • Familiarity with inventory management and transportation optimization.

  • Experience with commodity trading and risk management systems.

  • Understanding of Canadian oil sands diluent requirements and market dynamics.

  • Experience managing cross-border logistics and U.S.-Canada pipeline movements.

What Success Looks Like

  • Reliable execution of daily diluent and crude logistics activities.

  • Strong operational control of inventory positions and transportation commitments.

  • Effective management of pipeline constraints and operational disruptions.

  • Development of strong commercial and operational relationships across the industry.
