Job Description - Custodian/Cleaner


Custodian/Cleaner– HART Hub


New Position


3-year Full-Time Contract (possibility of extension pending funding)


Location: Sagamok, ON


Salary: $36,695

Who we are? We are a leader in First Nation Health. Our foundation is Indigenous Health in Indigenous Hands. We provide accessible, quality, culturally safe and holistic health care that supports and enhances the wellness of individuals, families, and communities. We work with our 11 First Nation community partners and the IFC in the provision of primary health care, traditional healing, mental wellness and addictions, home and community support services, and health promotion services.


 


The opportunity: An employee in this role will be responsible for maintaining a clean and healthy facility by completing cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and disinfecting surfaces to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards.  Your role involves cleaning protocols, using cleaning equipment and chemicals safely, and adhering to health and safety regulations.



What you need to bring with you:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Previous experience in cleaning or janitorial services preferred.

  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment and chemicals.

  • Attention to detail and thoroughness in cleaning tasks.

  • Physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.

  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Reliability and punctuality in attendance and performance.

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.

  • Commitment to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.

  • Experience working with Indigenous people, organizations, and communities.

  • A clear criminal reference check is a condition of employment.

  • Must have access to a reliable vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license.

What to expect? Given the traditional practices of Indigenous people, from time-to-time exposure to smoke from the burning of sacred medicines such as tobacco, sweet grass, sage or cedar may occur. Accessibility accommodations will be available upon request. An offer of employment will be conditional upon an acceptable vulnerable sector police records check. Hiring of Indigenous People will be given preference, as allowed under Section 14 of the Ontario Human Rights Code – Special Programs.
