We are seeking a skilled and motivated Database Administrator (DBA) with midrange experience to join our Digital Information Office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database management, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment. This role is critical in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our databases
What your day will look like:
- Database Management:
- Manage, maintain, and optimize our database systems to ensure high availability and performance
- Data Security:
- Implement and enforce security measures to protect data integrity and privacy
- Manage access and permissions
- High Availability:
- Collaborate with IT and development teams to design and implement database solutions that meet high availability requirements, including failover clustering, always-on availability groups, and other disaster recovery techniques
- Disaster Recovery:
- Develop and manage backup and recovery plans to ensure data is protected and can be restored in case of failure
- Performance Tuning:
- Monitor database performance and implement changes to improve efficiency and speed
- Database Design:
- Collaborate with developers and other stakeholders to design and implement database solutions that meet business needs
- Compliance:
- Ensure database systems comply with industry standards and regulations
- Documentation:
- Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures
- Support:
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for database-related issues
More about you:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role
- 3-5 years of experience administering MSSQL Server
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in database management systems such as SQL Server
- Proficiency in SQL
- Experience implementing and maintaining Windows Server Failover Clustering
- Experience implementing and maintaining AlwaysOn Availability Groups
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting Replication
- Experience with Azure SQL Database or other cloud-based database solutions
- Experience with database performance tuning and optimization
- Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies
- Familiarity with database security practices
- Understanding of database design and data modeling
- Experience working with MSSQL BI stack tools
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and grow
