Job Description - Database Adminitrator

Role: Intermediate Database Administrator (DBA)

Location: Mississauga

Type: Full-time

Environment: Hybid

Role Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Intermediate Database Administrator to support our Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL environments. This role is critical to ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our database infrastructure across various enterprise critical systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for daily maintenance, performance tuning, and proactive monitoring of all database environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform daily health checks, backups, and maintenance tasks across Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL databases.

• Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring high availability and reliability.

• Implement and maintain database security policies, including user access controls and data protection measures.

• Collaborate with application support and development teams to troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues.

• Participate in database upgrades, patching, and migrations.

• Maintain documentation for database configurations, procedures, and standards.

• Support disaster recovery planning and testing.

• Assist in capacity planning and forecasting for database growth.

• Stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience supporting Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL databases in a production environment.

• Strong understanding of database architecture, performance tuning, and backup/recovery strategies.

• Experience with database monitoring tools and automation scripts.

• Familiarity with high-availability configurations and clustering technologies.

• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Certifications:

• PostgreSQL Professional Certification

• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalent
