Database Engineer / DevOps DBA

We are looking for a Database Engineer / DevOps DBA to manage our database infrastructure across AlloyDB for PostgreSQL and on-premises SQL Server environments. This role combines database administration with programming and automation skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain AlloyDB for PostgreSQL on Google Cloud Platform
• Administer on-premises SQL Server databases
• Develop automation scripts for database operations using Python, PowerShell, and Bash
• Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
• Optimize database performance and troubleshoot issues
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines for database deployments
• Build monitoring solutions and ensure high availability
• Write stored procedures, functions, and database scripts
• Implement Infrastructure as Code for database provisioning

• 5+ years experience with PostgreSQL administration
• 5+ years experience with SQL Server administration
• Strong programming skills in Python, PowerShell, and SQL
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)
• Experience with Git and CI/CD tools
• Docker and containerization experience
• Linux and Windows server administration
• Database performance tuning and optimization

Nice to Have

• AlloyDB specific experience
• Kubernetes knowledge
• Database migration experience
• Cloud certifications (GCP, Azure, or AWS)
• Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana)

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Proven track record of managing production databases
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• On-call availability for critical issues
