Internal/External Posting
Working under the direction of the Health Director and/or Associate Health Director, the Dental Clinic Assistant will maintain the everyday activities in the business area of the dental office. This person will be responsible for maintaining patient records, accounts receivable and accounts payable and other duties that provide support to the dental team.
The successful applicant will be required to work in accordance with the BCGEU Collective Agreement as well as the Nation policies and benefits therein, in addition to all relevant Tla’amin Health policies and procedures. The successful applicant will be in good physical health. This position is open to applicants of all genders.
Key Responsibilities
Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Tla’amin policies, standards, practices and procedures as directed by the Director of Health Services. Maintains confidentiality as required pertaining to members, clients, employees and general matters of the Tla’amin Health and Nation.
• Appointment Scheduling: Schedules and confirm patient appointments, manage cancellations and maintain the
appointment calendar
• Patient Reception: Greet patients, coordinate check in and check outs and handle patient inquiries
• Patient Record Management: Maintains correct and up to date patient charts. Oversees re-care/recall system and
patient care quality control, maintains patient referral programs
• Business Records Management: Maintains accurate accounts receivable and accounts payable records, performs daily,
weekly and monthly billing procedures.
• Clinic Support: Inventory control, patient education
Qualifications
• Certificate or Diploma from a recognized Dental Administration Program
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and other computer programs
• First Aid & CPR certification or willingness to obtain
• Class 5 Driver’s License and successful Driver’s abstract
• Successful Criminal Record Check
Skills, Training and Experience
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Proficiency in dental software and electronic health records management
• Familiarity with dental terminology, insurance processing, and basic accounting
• Previous experience in a dental office or similar administrative role is preferred
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
• Ability to relate positively with the public
• Attention to detail and accuracy
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily at Tla’amin Health.
Additional Information
All employees working for Tla’amin Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
