We’re making a difference in our communities by providing timely mental health and addiction services, education and advocacy to ignite hope and support change for all. 

 As Development Officer, you will be responsible for establishing and growing a Mid-Level & Legacy Giving Program in support of our mental health, addiction, and housing programs. You will focus on identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding mid-level gifts in the $5,000 to $15,000 range, as well as legacy gifts. This role is also responsible for supporting our employee giving program. 

 As a member of our Fund Development Team, you will actively manage a portfolio of donors - and prospective donors - working to build meaningful, trusting relationships with the aim of matching donor interest with philanthropic opportunities within our organization. You will develop, manage and track the systems and processes for the Mid-level gifts pipeline and moves management while engaging our donors with the work of CMHA TVAMHS. 

Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months. Interested applicants who reside in the City of London and are in need of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) are encouraged to apply for one as soon as possible as PVSCs in the City of London are currently taking approximately 2 weeks to be processed and offers of employment cannot be made without receipt of a PVSC.

WHAT WE'RE OFFERING:

• What you'll be making - Starting rate for this role is $30.60 per hour (Level 1 - Analyst, Team Lead).
  • Successful external applicants will start at Level 1, with grid progression based on seniority up to Level 8 ($38.73); for internal applicants, grid level placement will occur as per the Collective Agreement
• When you'll work - 70 hours over two-week period. Monday to Friday 8:30am-4:30pm

• Your pension plan – Immediately eligible for optional enrollment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)

HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:

Fund Development: 

• Work with the RMC and colleagues in the execution and monitoring of strategic objectives and metrics for a mid-level giving program and legacy program, including forecasting and accountability
• Develop and implement a plan and strategies to support engagement of annual and mid-level donors who can make gifts
• Build strategic and meaningful relationships with potential and existing planned giving donors while incorporating messages of impact in stewardship and cultivation
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver high-quality volunteer experiences for donors, prospective donors and organizations
• Research and share grant opportunities for the purpose of securing support
• Support fund development events; attending and assisting with coordination, as needed

Teamwork:

• Actively engage in learning opportunities, events, meetings, and team building activities scheduled by the organization for staff members
• Act as a resource to other staff and community partners; seek out and listen to input from other staff and community partners
• Provide support and encouragement to other staff as needed (e.g. assistance with challenges, coverage for vacation, sick time, share responsibility for workloads)
• Be supportive of, and an active participant in, the constant evolution and growth of the organization
• Other duties as required

Privacy, Confidentiality and Documentation:

• Complete required documentation as per organization standards, discipline-specific guidelines and standards and PHIPA legislation; for staff members working within community partnerships (e.g. police partnerships, other community organizations, etc.), any additional program-specific standards must also be applied
• Ensure that confidential program/caseload information and material is handled in accordance with applicable privacy laws and organization policy
• Adhere to CMHA TVAMHS privacy and confidentiality policies and standards as well applicable legislation 
• Complete other required documentation (e.g., monthly time sheets, vacation requests, education requests, travel claims, expense claims, etc.) as per the required time frames

 Additional Duties: 

• Lead or participate in special projects as required
• Coordinate reporting, as required
• Other administrative requests / duties as required

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO APPLY:

Police Vulnerable Sector Check Requirements

Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months. We require the following qualifications:

• Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle with adequate insurance to carry out job duties
• Proof of current Police Vulnerable Sector Check
• Ability to attend work regularly

We prefer the following qualifications:

• Five years of charitable fundraising/development and/or donor engagement work
• Strong knowledge of fundraising principles
• Working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); comfortable learning and using new technology
• Bilingual both official languages, preferred; préférence sera accordée aux candidats qui sont compétents dans les deux langues officielles du Canada

Physical Requirements:

• Computer and desk work for extended periods of time
