Digital Project Lead

ZGM, a marketing firm at the intersection of brand, digital, and technology employs a digital team that is small but mighty. The team is central to our client’s experience. We are currently seeking a Digital Project Lead to guide that team day to day, protect momentum, and ensure our clients feel confident and cared for at every step. It is a great leadership position offering tremendous growth opportunity in an exciting space.

As a senior individual contributor with strong leadership instincts, you will provide hands-on, client-facing, and strong delivery of ZGM services. We are already highly respected, but we will expect you to lead us to new heights. From shepherding projects through our talented team to building client trust, you will play an important role in ZGM success.

The role

This role balances project leadership and account management.

Roughly half your time will involve scoping projects, establishing timelines for delivery, resourcing projects, prioritizing workflows and ensuring strong follow-through by the team. The other half will center on client communication: providing clear updates, thoughtful guidance, calm pushback when needed, and accessing the resources needed to ensure outstanding outcomes.

You’ll co-own client relationships alongside our account team, and you’ll play a meaningful role in how digital work is completed at ZGM. You will contribute to RFPs, join new business conversations, and support pitches – it is a diverse role that will fully test and utilize your strong capabilities. You will be measured on an objective basis and report regularly on the performance of your team.

What you’ll do

• Lead day-to-day delivery of website and digital projects.


• Manage a portfolio of multiple concurrent projects


• Juggle competing priorities though thoughtful resourcing, time management and communication


• Take responsibility over project health and quality of deliverables through continuous monitoring and testing


• Act as the primary point of contact for digital clients.


• Translate client needs into clear direction for designers, developers, copywriters, strategists and art directors


• Maintain momentum across multiple projects without unnecessary process.


• Balance flexibility with firmness, especially around scope and expectations.


• Support the digital team by removing friction and protecting focus.


• Keep visibility on pipeline, resourcing, and billing.


• Contribute to RFPs and new business pitches.


• Bring curiosity and experimentation around automation and AI into the overall workflow.

You’re comfortable with a bit of chaos and know how to create order without becoming overly rigid. You care deeply about people, but you’re also able to push when performance needs to be enhanced. You know how to be compassionate and clear at the same time.

You love seeing the faces of clients light up when we exceed expectations.

Skills and experience

You don’t need to check every box, but you should be comfortable in most of these areas.

• Strong client communication and emotional intelligence


• Ability to deliver clear and empathic feedback to strengthen the deliverables of the team


• Fluent in Asana or similar project management tools


• Familiarity with the Microsoft environment


• Comfortable navigating Figma files and design conversations


• Broad understanding of website development, including domains, DNS, hosting, CMS platforms, and deployment basics


• Solid grasp of UX and UI fundamentals


• Clear interest in automation and AI, with a willingness to experiment and learn


• Confidence working with senior clients in straightforward digital engagements

Nice to haves:

• Working knowledge of Webflow and WordPress


• Understanding of conversion, content marketing, and CRM concepts

What this is not

This is not a role for someone who needs constant direction. It’s not a fit for rigid process thinkers or people who avoid hard conversations. It’s also not a pure project management role. Communication, judgment, and trust matter just as much as organization.

Location

Edmonton is ideal. Calgary may also work for the right person. We are an in-house team and value working together in person, with flexibility when life demands it.
