What you will do:
Support clients with community involvement and independence to optimize the individual’s quality of life
Assist and teach daily living activities, and life skills to promote the self-esteem and well-being
Daily documentation and reporting
Menu planning and/or preparation
Medication Administration (as delegated)
Managing challenging behaviors and situations using CPI knowledge and principles
Support clients with varied level of personal care (e.g. hand-over-hand, full support, etc.)
Assisting with household activities and chores
Companionship
What you will need to be successful
Experience/knowledge of working with adult clients with intellectual and mental disabilities.
Experience/knowledge of working with clients with alcohol and drug dependencies and behavioural challenges.
Must have a valid certification in Basic first Aid and CPR.
Required to have a clear Criminal Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector, Adult Abuse and Child Abuse Registry valid in the last 6 months.
Minimum Grade Twelve education, preferably post-secondary, Developmental Service Worker Certificate, Health Care Aide certification or a combination of related education/experience.
Ability to work effectively within a team environment, sound decision making abilities and the capacity to work with minimal supervision.
