Job Description - Director, Employee & Labour Relations

DirectorofEmployee&LabourRelations

We are seeking aDirectorofEmployee&LabourRelationsto provide strategic leadership in overseeing allemployeeandlabourrelationsmatters within our organization.
Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, you will work closely with a dedicated team to ensure compliance with legislative requirements, HR policies,andcollective agreements. Your role will encompass advising leadership, managing grievancesandarbitrations, conducting internal investigations,andleading or overseeing collective bargaining efforts.

Responsibilities
  • Provide expert adviceandconsultation onemployeeandlabourrelationsissues to leadership clients.
  • Oversee grievanceandarbitration processes.
  • Manage internal investigationsandthe investigation process.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative requirements, HR policies,andcollective agreements.
  • Make decisions regarding third-party (legal) representationandHR's legal budget.
  • Lead or oversee collective bargaining initiatives with all unions.
  • Establishandmaintain appropriatelabourrelationsprocedures, guidelines, policies,andprocedures.

Qualifications:
  • Successful completion of a Master’s degree in a related field.
  • A minimum of 7 years in labour relations or employment law, preferably in the healthcare environment.
  • Expert knowledge of relevant Ontario employment legislationandlabourjurisprudence.
  • Proven ability to handle complex negotiations, arbitrations and mediations related to labour and employee relations.
  • Demonstrated experience in collective agreement interpretation, grievance management,anddispute resolution in a complex union environment with multiple unions.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with employees, management, and labor representatives, and to navigate sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate legal concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.

Location: Toronto, Ontario
Work model: Hybrid model
Salary: $150,000 - $180,000+ top class pensionandbenefits
