Director, Internal Audit

We are currently recruiting a Director, Internal Audit to head our Internal Audit team.

Reporting to the Chair, Audit and Risk Committee, with a functional relationship to the CEO, this role leads Kindred’s Internal Audit function and serve as an independent, objective advisor to the Board, regulators, senior leadership, and management.

Key Responsibilities

As Director, Internal Audit, you will:

• Lead and execute Kindred’s Internal Audit strategy, aligning audit priorities with organizational objectives, enterprise risk management, and regulatory expectations


• Provide independent assurance and advisory services that strengthen governance, risk management, and internal control effectiveness across the organization


• Develop and deliver comprehensive audit plans, oversee audit execution, and ensure timely, insightful reporting to senior leadership, the Audit & Risk Committee, and the Board


• Proactively identify emerging and strategic risks, leverage data analytics and evolving audit practices, and collaborate with key stakeholders to support effective management responses and remediation


• Lead, coach, and develop the internal audit team while coordinating effectively with external auditors, regulators, and key stakeholders

Plus, You Bring Your Qualifications and Experience:

• A university degree in business, economics, or a related field


• A recognized professional accounting designation (CPA)


• A recognized internal audit designation (CIA); CISA is considered an asset


• A minimum of 10 years of progressive auditing experience, including at least 5 years in internal audit


• Financial services or credit union experience is an asset


• Strong business acumen, regulatory knowledge, and understanding of governance practices


• Proficiency in technology, data analytics, and emerging audit methodologies


• Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, and change management skills
