The Opportunity
The Director of Care (DOC) of the Long-Term Care Home is responsible for the coordination and scheduling of resident care activities in compliance with applicable legislation and organizational policies, while maintaining an environment conducive to achieving the optimal health, safety, and well-being of residents and staff.
The Director of Care provides clinical leadership and oversight of nursing services, ensures the delivery of high-quality, resident-centered care, and supports a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the home.
What You Will Do
Responding to resident and family concerns, ensuring appropriate and timely resolution within scope of authority or escalating to the Administrator when required.
Reporting complaints and concerns to the MLTC Director in accordance with legislative requirements.
Investigating concerns thoroughly and completing all required documentation and follow-up actions.
Leading and coordinating the Annual Care Conference Program.
Accountable for the highest standard of resident care and quality of life being provided to the residents through the development and maintenance of appropriate care plans, effective supervision of the performance of nursing staff, provision of the required equipment and supplies and appropriate staffing pattern, nursing services, policies, and procedures.
What You Bring
Minimum 3 years of relevant management experience.
Minimum 3 years of experience in Long-Term Care.
Current Certificate of Competence as a Registered Nurse (RN) with the provincial College of Nursing.
Post-secondary education in Nursing, Nursing Administration, or Gerontology.
Diploma or Certificate in Organizational Management.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of applicable Long-Term Care legislation and regulatory standards.
