Job Description - Director of Community Managers

For nearly 35 years Magnum York Property Management has delivered quality facilities and asset management services throughout Alberta. As the Director of Community Management for Alberta, you will oversee the operations and board governance requirements for our Alberta portfolio of Condominiums. The successful candidate will provide strong leadership and knowledge while overseeing a team of licensed and trainee condominium managers.

Major Responsibilities

This role reports directly to the President and provides oversight to staff in our Condominium Division. This position will also work with our Broker and teams to provide our current and future clients excellent service and instilling in our staff customer focus and customer deadlines.

The ideal candidate will be expected to provide guidance and direction from their past experiences to your team to ensure our clients get the service they deserve.

The candidate will be responsible for overseeing operations for Condominium management to ensure that tasks are competed correctly and on time. The candidate will ensure procedures are being followed and communicate any changes to the procedures as needed. The candidate will also work with the leaders of our Rental, Accounting and Administration teams to coordinate operations.

You will be responsible for building and leading a strong relationship with our clients throughout our Alberta portfolio, by yourself and through the actions of those reporting to you. This engagement will include regular phone calls, meetings and attending board meetings. You will monitor, track and hold your team accountable to standards that ensure client retention of 95% or higher on an annual basis.

The candidate will have condominium management experience as well as the ability to lead a team. You will be asked to implement and execute processes, procedures and training that will be used across the company.

Some evening meetings with clients are required. A professional demeanor with excellent diplomacy skills will be required when dealing with our clients at all times. You need to be able to embrace technology with the belief that it can help us provide better and more efficient service to our clients.

Duties include:

  • Manage people, develop and enforce the procedures, communicate the procedures, ensure procedures are being followed
  • Develop people and build bench strength for the company
  • Build relationship with our existing clients
  • Manage a small portfolio of properties within the portfolio assigned including overseeing all aspects of facility operations, liaising with owners/tenants/clients, ensuring contractor standards are met, and identifying any improvements that may be required
  • Provide bottom-line accountability for contracts’ operational results including Key Performance Indicator components
  • Implement contract budgets and control expenditures per budget figures
  • Manage and supervise a team of Magnum York site employees
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with directors, owners, clients, tenants, contractors, and suppliers
  • Provide advice and guidance to directors and owners on pertinent legislation and statutory requirements
  • Promote Magnum York systems and processes while providing leadership to the branch team

Requirements:

  • Experience leading, organizing and growing a team
  • Delegating tasks and monitoring to ensure that the tasks are completed
  • Extremely organized in procedures and monthly tasks
  • Some formal management training
  • Professional demeanor
  • Very strong English both written and verbal
  • Has a solid grasp of accounting but doesn’t need an accounting background
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a very demanding and fast paced environment
  • Extensive knowledge of budgeting, administrative and accounting processes
  • Demonstrated organizational, time management and leadership skills
  • Strong knowledge of CPA and regulations, familiarity with condominium bylaws
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer care and client management skills

Experience & Qualifications

  • Condominium Associate license required
  • Real Estate Associate Broker license preferred
  • Willing to complete Condominium Associate Broker’s license through RECA
  • Must have 10 years property management experience in condominium management.
  • 5+ years of people management experience
  • Previous experience managing maintenance, mechanical projects and subcontracted services preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean Driver’s Abstract
  • A clean Criminal Record Check will be required for the successful Candidate.
