SUMMARY:
Merit Services Ltd. is currently seeking a highly accomplished and dynamic Director of Strategic Sourcing to lead our client’s construction procurement unit in Toronto. As the Director of Strategic Sourcing, you will play a pivotal role in formulating and executing purchasing strategies to ensure the timely acquisition of high-quality materials and services at competitive rates.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and implement comprehensive procurement tactics, aligning them with organizational goals and industry best practices.

Oversee and manage the construction procurement unit, ensuring efficient and effective operations.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify sourcing needs, evaluate potential suppliers, and negotiate favorable contracts.

Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, fostering partnerships based on trust, reliability, and shared value.

Continuously assess market trends and innovations to identify cost-saving opportunities and drive operational efficiencies.

Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions when necessary to uphold quality standards and delivery schedules.

Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals, promoting a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Stay abreast of industry regulations and compliance requirements, ensuring adherence throughout the sourcing process.

Prepare and present regular reports on sourcing activities, cost savings, and performance metrics to senior management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Proven experience in strategic sourcing and procurement management, preferably within the construction industry.

Strong analytical and negotiation skills, with a track record of achieving cost savings and optimizing supplier relationships.

In-depth knowledge of procurement processes, supplier evaluation, contract negotiation, and vendor management.

Excellent leadership and people management abilities, inspiring teams to achieve exceptional results.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.

Strategic mindset with the ability to think critically, solve complex problems, and make data-driven decisions.

Strong organizational skills, managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
