Job Description - Director, Regional Retail Operations

Cambrian Credit Union is seeking a Director, Regional Retail Operations to join our dynamic Retail & Digital Operations team.


Reporting to the Vice-President, Retail & Digital Sales, the Director, Regional Retail Operations is accountable for leading their teams in the achievement of all growth and service objectives of their designated service market area and assigned Retail branches. The Director, Regional Retail Operations is accountable for all operational and performance facets pertaining to the delivery of superior member service and the achievement of all growth objectives that are aligned with Cambrian’s products, services & evolving delivery strategies. The Director, Regional Retail Operations will be responsible for execution of the growth strategies as well as the delivery of unified processes related to advice and service delivery.


In the role of Director, Regional Retail Operations, you will:



  1. Grow all core retail banking products and services as measured through operational sales, revenue generation, net-portfolio growth and assigned internal sales referral targets to wealth, commercial banking services, and partner channels.

  2. Foster a purposeful culture, with a focus on maximizing performance at all levels within assigned market, through ongoing coaching, mentorship, and sales management activities.

  3. Provide direct leadership over the delivery of all ongoing member contact, service, and business development practices. Actively lead the promotion and deployment of all corporate and in-branch sales initiatives. Build member loyalty through actively leading a sales and service environment that emphasizes saving our members time and money, simplifying banking, and solving member’s financial problems.

  4. Lead and coach the Retail Sales Managers, Personal Banking Managers, and Member Service Managers in assigned market. Coach and develop the in-branch leaders to develop their team to be active sales leaders to meet their goals through initiative-taking sales techniques and sales management activities including the development of an effective pipeline of future business opportunities and applying prospecting tactics.

  5. Collaborate and work closely with the Marketing, Wealth, Commercial, Support & Credit Adjudication Teams, and other Retail & Digital Sales leaders in the initiative-taking integration, promotion, referral and/or follow-up of all Cambrian’s products and services.

  6. Lead the success of the assigned market by enhancing Cambrian's presence to establish and maintain new and current member relationships, developing new business in the community. Work in alignment with an annual marketing plan and develop centers of influence (COIs) to deliver business opportunities to the assigned market.

  7. Maintain strict adherence to established risk, administration, compliance & premises controls. Provide coaching and support in the effective application of Cambrian’s administration and retail lending policies – actively participating in the ongoing maintenance of corporate audit and quality control programs.

  8. Responsible for leadership, development, and performance management of all branch staff at assigned branches including ensuring direct leaders effectively complete timely training and development, addressing performance issues and completing performance reviews.

  9. Participate fully as a team member, help build a positive work environment, willingly assist, and mentor others in the completion of work activities, addressing any communication issues effectively.

  10. Jointly lead the Member Service Management team meetings to ensure the MSM team is aligned with the overall operation.

  11. Aid and support to the Head Office Management Group as deemed necessary and/or required. The role will need to support leader transition amongst the assigned market and provide on-site leadership as required.


Your Education & Experience:



  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Commerce, Administration or equivalent; plus, a minimum 7 years of financial services experience, with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a sales management position.

  • Demonstrated critical thinker with a broad level of sales management experience within a fast-paced, highly regulated, and dynamic environment.

  • Strong leadership competency with a high emphasis towards goal attainment and quality service in a team-based environment, through ongoing coaching, mentorship, and sales management activities.

  • Strong knowledge of the application of various product offerings within the financial services market specific to investment & deposit services, and digital banking channels (online/mobile tools).

  • Demonstrated experience providing financial advice, with a strong focus on retail lending skills including thorough knowledge and understating of sound credit practices and retail lending processes.

  • A practical knowledge of investments acquired through various registrations and completion of the Canadian Securities Course a definite asset.
