Job Description - Diversity Coordinator

Association for New Canadians is a non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to the provision of settlement and integration services for immigrants and refugees. 


 


Job Title: Diversity Coordinator  


Location: St. John’s, NL 


Position Type: 1 full-time position until March 31, 2026, with possibility of extension pending budget availability and satisfactory performance 


Closing date: January 28, 2026 


 


Reporting to the Director of Employment Services, the Diversity Coordinator is responsible for expanding the reach to potential partners and beneficiaries and identifying emerging issues and best practices of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion to be shared with them and with the community at large. This role will also oversee the annual Diversity Symposium, which provides an opportunity to attract new interest and bring stakeholders together, advancing the mandate of this position. Additionally, the Diversity Coordinator is accountable to the program funders and is required to provide detailed report writing and statistics.   


 


Roles and Responsibilities: 



  • Identifymaintain, and build strong relationships and community partnerships to promote diversity, immigration, and multiculturalism  



  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and delivery of diversity events  



  • Provide guidance and support to a team of diversity officers  



  • Oversee all aspects of reporting, including data management, quarterly and annual reports 



  • Lead the development of funding proposals  



  • Support colleagues in a variety of media, community, and government relations initiatives, as needed or   



  • Remain abreast of current cross-cultural resources, trends, needs, changes, and service gaps 



  • Perform other tasks as assigned 


 


Qualifications and Experience: 



  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience  



  • Passion for promoting diversity, workplace inclusion, and newcomer integration  



  • Demonstrated creative ability when developing promotional materials and media initiative  



  • Demonstrated collaborative style of management with an ability to influence others  



  • Solutions focused when addressing unique challenges both internal and with stakeholder groups  



  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral  



  • Experience developing and delivering top-shelf presentations  



  • Experience in public/media relations  



  • Possesses attention to detail in report writing and compliance requirements 


 


Conditions of Employment: 



  • Legal authorization to work in Canada  



  • Flexible to work outside of core hours (Monday-Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm) 



  • Valid class 5 NL driver’s license and daily access to a personal vehicle is  



  • Ability to travel is  



  • Position is subject to a satisfactory Criminal Record Screening and Vulnerable Sector Check from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary 



  • Valid First Aid Certificate is an asset
