Key Responsibilities:
Review Project Drawings and Specifications:
- Analyze and review the project drawings and specifications to fully understand the
scope of work for cladding and related systems.
- Identify key requirements and any discrepancies or design issues and communicate
them to the Project Manager.
Prepare Shop Drawings:
- Develop detailed shop drawings based on the project’s architectural and structural
requirements, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
- Include clear dimensions, material specifications, and installation instructions in the
drawings.
Prepare Bills of Material (BOM):
- Generate comprehensive Bills of Material based on the shop drawings, ensuring all
materials required for fabrication and installation are accounted for accurately.
- Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely ordering and delivery of
materials.
Prepare IFC Drawings:
- Create detailed Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings that incorporate any updates or
revisions from design meetings and site inspections.
- Ensure all IFC drawings are fully compliant with design specifications and local
building codes.
Prepare Fabrication Drawings for Metal Panels, Flashings, and Girts:
- Design and produce accurate fabrication drawings for the cladding components,
including metal panels, flashings, and girts.
- Ensure that fabrication drawings clearly define cutting, welding, and installation
details.
Coordination with Project Team:
- Liaise closely with the Project Manager and Supervisor to clarify design issues, resolve
technical challenges and ensure project timelines are met.
- Attend project meetings and communicate effectively with other team members,
subcontractors, and external stakeholders.
Site Visits for Measurements and Information:
- Visit construction sites together with the Supervisor to obtain accurate measurements
and other necessary information for drawing preparation.
- Ensure that site-specific conditions are captured and reflected in the drawings and
project plans.
Quality Control:
- Ensure all drawings and documents are accurate, detailed, and align with project
specifications and quality standards.
- Perform checks to ensure that all materials and fabrication details meet required
standards and are suitable for the intended use.
Additional Duties:
- Perform estimating tasks as required, including providing material and labor cost
estimates for cladding and related systems.
- Undertake other duties as assigned by management, including assisting in project
planning, procurement, and coordination tasks.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay up to date with industry standards, new technologies, and best practices in
cladding design and drafting.
- Identify opportunities for improving drawing processes and quality assurance
procedures.
