The Otipemisiwak Métis Government is recruiting for two (2) Early Years Supervisors that will assist with overseeing the development and implementation of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government’s Early Years Programs. Reporting to the Early Years Manager, the successful candidates will be responsible for leading a team that designs and delivers safe and meaningful programs and resources that meet the unique needs of Métis early learners across the province of Alberta. The Early Years Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision of Early Years Coordinators in the design, implementation, and evaluations of Early Years programming. The Early Years Supervisor must be an open-minded team player who is able to engage effectively with staff and Métis citizens and look for innovative ways to meet the unique needs of Métis children and their families.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support the Early Years team in the development, implementation, evaluation, and reporting of Early Years programming, events, and supports.
Support the development and implementation of systems and resources to guide the Early Years team in the delivery of Early Years programs in a safe, meaningful, and effective manner.
Create, review, and maintain program processes and procedures that guide Early Years programming to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
Review program plans and collateral to ensure effective and high-quality program delivery, including timelines, project milestones, registration and implementation processes, and evaluation plans.
Ensure that all Early Years program activities reflect the values and priorities of the Early Years team.
Identify and address gaps and areas of growth for the Early Years team and programs.
Establish and maintain positive and supportive internal and external partnerships.
Support the preparation and delivery of presentations to stakeholders, community, and provincial and national audiences, as required.
Collaborate in staffing responsibilities and perform supervisory duties including hiring and training staff, assigning job duties, and developing and overseeing staff work plans.
Mentor team members and provide effective leadership through feedback, coaching, and formal evaluations.
Participate in and support the overall strategic direction of the Children and Family Services department and Otipemisiwak Métis Government.
Support other Otipemisiwak Métis Government Children's Services initiatives and other duties as required.
Skills & Competencies
Knowledge of Métis history, culture, and issues affecting Métis people. An in-depth understanding of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government is an asset.
Experience with community-based program development and implementation.
Recognized strengthinleading andengagingteams, creating a culture that promotes development of individualandorganizational capacity.
Exceptional verbal, written,andinterpersonal communicationskills, with an ability to produce professional documents, reports, and presentations.
Experience planning and implementing events and community engagements.
Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
Strong organization and time management skills, with the ability to manage deadlines.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Ability to identify issues and implement creative and strategic solutions to overcome problems.
Experience using MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.) and Google Workspace (Google Docs, Google Forms, Google Sheets).
Culturally sensitive and compassionate.
A proven track record of building collaborative partnerships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including government, industry, service providers, and community.
Resourceful, proactive, and results driven.
Receptive to constructive feedback, committed to continuous improvement, and aligns personal development with overarching team objectives.
Qualifications
Post-secondary degree in early learning, Human or Social Services, or related field is preferred; however, equivalent experiences will be considered.
Two - three years’ experience in a similar role is an asset.
Two years’ of leadership experience. Experience supervising a team of direct reports is preferred.
Indigenous Awareness Training is an asset.
Other Requirements
Position is based in Edmonton; in-office presence is required.
Ability to work a regular schedule of Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM.
Must be willing to travel within Alberta and work irregular hours, on occasion, to meet program needs.
Reliable transportation and a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
Acceptable attainment and annual maintenance of a Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check and an Intervention Record Check is required
