Reporting to the Director of Language Services, the Education and Support for Employment (EASE) Facilitator is responsible for delivering job skills training for clients seeking entry-level employment. This position will also provide a set of wrap-around supports to facilitate labour market attachment and help ensure that vulnerable newcomers are connected to, and receive, employment counselling supports. The incumbent will also work to help individuals effectively navigate and access the various employment and education programs and services available to them through ongoing, direct, and focused interventions. Located at the ESL Training Centre, this position will provide all newcomers over the age of 18 with targeted outreach to help support them on their next steps to their education or employment pathway. In addition, this position will work closely with local businesses to help reduce systemic barriers that may impede successful labour market attachment for a complex and high-needs population.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Deliver job skills training for clients seeking entry-level employment through systematic delivery of classroom information sessions
Provide support to facilitate labour market attachment
Provide one-to-one client career counselling supporting individual specific needs
Communicate regularly with external agencies with the goal of providing participants with volunteer experiences and job shadowing that will enhance their employability
Regularly collect all pertinent client data regarding the program
Create reports that outline the successes and positive attributes of the program, including program indicators and milestones for the set objectives
Develop goals, timelines, and delivery models where required
Provide orientation and navigation for post-secondary educational opportunities - understanding academic pathways
Provide direction for academic language assessment
Complete skills assessment inventories
Liaise with the ANC’s employment services division on various training and academic opportunities
Qualifications and Experience:
Three-year diploma, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience (relevant equivalencies and education may be considered)
Skilled in developing a working environment promoting cultural awareness and sensitivity for a diverse client group
Strong knowledge of pre-employment and employment training and readiness strategies and approaches
Excellent interpersonal skills and flexibility to address the changing needs of the environment and client group
Excellent communication skills, written and oral
Working knowledge of the provincial and Canadian labour market, workplace culture and practices
Experience in managing relationships with stakeholder groups and partners
Excellent attention to detail and precision in report writing and compliance requirements
Demonstrated experience in the use of Google Workspace and the extraction and analysis of data from various organizational databases
Conditions of Employment:
Legal authorization to work in Canada
Flexible to work outside of standard core hours ( Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm)
Valid class 5 driver’s license and ready to access to a reliable vehicle is required
Some travel may be required
Position is subject to a satisfactory Criminal Record Screening and Vulnerable Sector Check from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary
