eLearning Developer (EdmontonIn-Office, Full Time, Maternity Coverage Position) #150, 15315 123 Ave NW, Edmonton, Alberta T5V 1S6
About the Role
We are a growing organization looking for an in-office eLearning Developer to build, update, and support high-quality digital learning experiences. This role is hands-on and varied: you will develop interactive courses, troubleshoot learner issues, support tickets, contribute to QA, and assist with basic video production. You must be comfortable working independently with limited direction, while also collaborating closely with Instructional Designers (IDs), Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and other stakeholders. This role is currently offered as maternity leave coverage, with the possibility of transitioning into a permanent position.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, update, and maintain eLearning courses using agreed templates and standards.
Work with IDs and SMEs to scope requirements, build content, and iterate quickly based on feedback.
Write clean, well-structured, commented code for interactive learning experiences.
Perform QA testing on learning content and act as a QA agent when needed.
Triage and resolve support tickets related to digital learning content and learner issues.
Produce simple video edits (stitching clips, adding audio, basic polish).
Manage multiple projects at once while meeting tight deadlines and maintaining high quality.
Ensure learning experiences meet accessibility requirements and UX/design best practices.
Stay current on LMS developments, digital learning tools, and plugins; recommend improvements.
Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying gaps and supporting delivery of an improvement plan.
Use strong version control and backup habits (GitHub and/or Perforce).
Leverage AI tools to accelerate content development, automate repetitive tasks, and scale production without compromising accuracy or pedagogical standards.
Experiment with emerging technologies to solve complex instructional problems and find innovative ways to deliver interactive learning at scale.
Act as the primary "Human-in-the-Loop" for all AI-assisted outputs, applying expert judgment, QA, and specialized knowledge to ensure content is technically sound and educationally effective.
Required Qualifications
Able to work in-office in Edmonton (this is not a remote role).
Strong JavaScript skills and practical experience building interactive content.
Strong multimedia and technical skills, including comfort with digital asset workflows.
Strong visual design skills and understanding of design principles.
Understanding of User Experience (UX) and how it applies to learning content.
Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and consistency.
Solution-focused mindset with the ability to troubleshoot quickly and effectively.
Comfortable shifting tasks quickly and working across development, QA, support, and production.
Able to work independently with little direction; demonstrates proactive ownership and planning ahead.
Ability to effectively prompt, utilize, and integrate generative AI tools into development workflows to increase efficiency and solve novel problems.
A strong "human-in-the-loop" mindset—the ability to critically evaluate, fact-check, and refine AI-generated code, text, or assets to meet high organizational standards.
Nice to Have
Python proficiency.
Experience working with GitHub and/or Perforce in team environments.
Experience working with LLMs and other generative tools in content development or production workflows.
What Success Looks Like
You deliver clean, maintainable, commented learning code and assets.
You catch issues early through thorough QA and strong attention to detail.
You resolve learner issues and support tickets quickly without sacrificing quality.
You manage multiple deadlines while keeping stakeholders informed.
You proactively propose improvements to tools, workflows, templates, and content quality.
