Electrical & Building Automation Controls (BAS) Sales

Ambient Mechanical is seeking an experienced Electrical & Controls Technical Sales Engineer to represent our Electrical and Building Automation Systems (BAS) Division within the Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (ICI) market.

This is a hands-on technical sales and business development role for someone who understands the field, sees opportunities, and knows how to turn technical challenges into practical solutions for our clients.

What You’ll Do

• Identify, develop and secure new business opportunities within the ICI market.


• Generate work including electrical distribution upgrades, panel replacements and retrofits, BAS upgrades and retrofits, motor controls, VFD applications and related electrical/controls projects.


• Develop strong, long-term relationships with building owners, facility managers, contractors, consultants and industry professionals.


• Visit jobsites and client facilities to assess existing systems, identify opportunities and develop practical solutions.


• Work closely with Ambient’s Electrical, Mechanical and BAS teams to develop scopes, proposals and solutions.


• Build credibility with clients by understanding both the electrical and HVAC sides of building systems and how they interact.


• Proactively pursue opportunities rather than waiting for them to come to you.

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical and BAS field work, technical sales, contracting or a related role.


• Strong understanding of electrical distribution, motor controls, VFDs and BAS systems.


• Working knowledge of HVAC systems and the interaction between mechanical systems, controls and electrical power.


• Strong field credibility with both electricians and HVAC technicians.


• A proactive, self-directed approach with the drive to identify and pursue opportunities.


• Strong communication, relationship-building and consultative selling skills.


• Ability to understand a client’s needs, develop a solution and clearly communicate its value.


• Comfortable working independently while collaborating with project management, service, electrical, mechanical and BAS teams.
