Job Description - Electrical and Project Superintendent
Be a part of the initial team to grow and operate a regionally significant new underground mine development that is rapidly becoming the future of the iconic Red Lake gold mining district in Ontario, Canada.
The Electrical & Projects Superintendent is responsible for the safe, reliable, and cost-effective management of electrical systems and electrical projects/shutdowns Improvement initiatives across the site. The role provides leadership to electrical personnel and contractors while overseeing project planning, execution, commissioning, and continuous improvement initiatives. The incumbent ensures compliance with all regulatory, safety, and operational requirements while supporting production goals through effective asset management and project delivery. 2 week rotation position.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Maintenance Leadership
Lead and supervise electrical and instrumentation Supervision personnel.
Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Ensure reliability and availability of electrical distribution, control systems, motors, drives, PLCs, and instrumentation.
Coordinate troubleshooting and resolution of electrical failures.
Monitor electrical equipment performance and identify improvement opportunities.
Ensure critical spare parts inventories are maintained.
Hoist and skip experience is required.
Project Management
Manage Electrical projects from concept through commissioning bringing in resources as required for expertise.
Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and business cases.
Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
Manage contractors and consultants to ensure quality, safety, and schedule compliance.
Control project costs and provide regular progress reporting.
Ensure projects meet technical specifications and stakeholder requirements.
Safety and Compliance
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and electrical regulations.
Ensure electrical work complies with applicable codes, standards, and company procedures.
Lead incident investigations and corrective action implementation.
Conduct risk assessments and job hazard analyses.
Reliability and Continuous Improvement
Support reliability-centered maintenance and asset management initiatives.
Analyze equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
Drive continuous improvement projects focused on safety, reliability, and productivity.
Utilize CMMS systems to plan, track, and optimize maintenance activities.
Budget and Resource Management
Assist in Preparing and manage Electrical annual operating and capital budgets.
Monitor expenditures and optimize resource utilization.
Develop staffing plans and contractor requirements.
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement improvement strategies.
Leadership and Development
Lead, coach, and develop supervisors, Planner, tradespeople, and contractors.
Conduct performance reviews and training assessments.
Foster teamwork between maintenance, operations, engineering, and other departments.
Support succession planning and workforce development.
Qualifications
Education
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation considered an asset.
Red seal Electrical ticket and experience will also be considered and asset.
Experience
7-10 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience.
3-5 years of supervisory or management experience.
Experience managing sustaining projects.
Experience in mining, manufacturing, pulp and paper, or heavy industrial environments preferred.
Technical Skills
High-voltage and low-voltage distribution systems.
Motors, drives, PLCs, SCADA, and instrumentation systems.
Project management principles and project execution.
Asset management and reliability practices.
Budgeting and cost control.
CMMS and Microsoft Office applications.
