Electrical Engineer (Buildings)
Role Overview
The Electrical Engineer supports the design and delivery of electrical building systems for commercial, institutional, and mixed -use projects. Working under the guidance of intermediate and senior engineers, this role contributes to the development of safe, reliable, and energy -efficient electrical systems throughout all project phases.
This position is intended for early -career engineers developing independent technical capability within a consulting engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the design and layout of electrical building systems, including power distribution, lighting, emergency power, grounding, and low -voltage systems
• Perform electrical load calculations and assist with preliminary system sizing
• Prepare electrical drawings, single -line diagrams, and schedules using Revit
• Assist with lighting layouts and controls coordination
• Support the preparation of engineering reports, specifications, and technical documentation
• Coordinate electrical design inputs with mechanical, architectural, and structural disciplines
• Review shop drawings, technical submittals, and RFIs with guidance from senior engineers
• Participate in site visits, inspections, and construction administration activities
• Support sustainable and energy -efficient electrical design strategies
• Maintain organized project documentation and adhere to internal quality control processes
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
• Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng)
• Typically 1–3 years of experience in building systems or consulting engineering
• Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD
• Working knowledge of power distribution and lighting system design
• Understanding of applicable electrical codes and standards
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Preferred / Asset Qualifications
• Experience on commercial or institutional building projects
• Exposure to lighting design software or power system analysis tools
• Familiarity with sustainability principles and energy -efficient building design
