An established manufacturing and service provider specializing in automated control systems and industrial instrumentation is seeking a skilled Technician to join their team. Operating for decades in the automation space, the company supports diverse clients with high-quality system engineering, product assembly, and dedicated field maintenance.

The Ideal Profile

We are looking for a versatile technician with a diverse technical skill set spanning precision mechanical assembly, fluid power, pneumatics, and low-voltage electrical troubleshooting. If you enjoy a balanced mix of precise, in-house component bench overhauls and dynamic field service travel to client facilities, this role offers an exceptional long-term career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Field Service & Diagnostics: Travel to client facilities across Western Canada and the United States to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair automated control systems and fluid power networks.

  • Component Teardowns & Overhauls: Perform detailed component teardowns in the shop and on-site. Inspect parts for wear or fatigue, install rebuild kits, reassemble, and calibrate equipment to strict factory specifications.

  • Technical Documentation: Read and interpret system schematics, engineering blueprints, and circuit diagrams. Document field activities, complete precise service reports, and accurately note any documentation discrepancies for the engineering team.

  • System Installation & Piping: Assist with the mechanical installation of control equipment on-site, including fabricating flexible hoses, running rigid piping, and performing precision tube bending.

  • Service Quoting Support: Collaborate with the internal service coordinator and management to provide accurate material lists and estimated labor hours for upcoming repair quotes.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ Years of Experience: Proven track record in industrial maintenance, assembly, or field service, with a heavy emphasis on pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

  • Cross-Functional Aptitude: Strong mechanical foundation paired with basic electrical troubleshooting skills (e.g., tracing control circuits or diagnosing electrical faults tied to automated air/fluid lines).

  • Fabrication & Shop Skills: Competent using standard mechanic’s hand tools, shop presses, basic testing meters, and standard fabrication equipment.

  • Schematic Literacy: Exceptional ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot from complex industrial blueprints, fluid power symbols, and technical drawings.

  • Travel Flexibility: Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean abstract and the unrestricted ability to travel internationally, including across the United States.

  • Communication: Professional verbal and written English skills for writing technical service reports and managing client relationships on-site.
