ELL Teacher

Tanbridge Academy was established in 2007 and is an accredited private school offering K-9 with a focus on academics, athletics and personal growth.

We are currently looking for an energetic individual to lead our ELL Program. We need a teacher to organize courses for non-native speakers with diverse activities and methods covering all English language aspects (speaking, writing, and comprehending).

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare classroom and course materials
• Assign homework and exams
• Grade students’ assessments
• Create individualized plans for students with special requirements (e.g. learning disabilities)
• Research new teaching methods for teaching English as a second language
• Create a supportive and positive classroom environment 
• Maintain records of student attendance and grades
• Resolve crises in the classroom
• Inform parents about student progress
• Conduct formal and informal assessments of students, including report cards, progress reports and marking

·      Supervise students during classes and at other times in the school day

·      Prepare for and attend parent-teacher interviews and other functions

·      Maintain appropriate standards of behaviour, mutual respect, and safety within the classroom

Qualifications:

·      Education Degree

·      Alberta Teaching Certificate

·      Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check

·      Strong research and teaching skills

·      Interpersonal skills with an emphasis on compassion, patience and professionalism

·      Creativity to develop lessons that are engaging and educational

·      Ability to work within a team with integrity, enthusiasm, initiative and confidence

·      Excellent communication skills with parents, students and colleagues

·      Willingness to take on extra-curricular activities
