Emergency First Response Team (EFRT) Scheduling Coordinator

Reports to: EFRT Director    

Hours per week: 5-7 hours per week in addition to 12 Supervisory Shifts per month       

Term: Sept 1 - April 30

The McMaster Students Union Emergency First Response Team (EFRT) is a group of approximately 30 student volunteers who provide emergency medical services to the McMaster Campus, with an average response time of 2-3 minutes. All responders are certified Emergency Medical Responders, with more senior members being trained in International Trauma Life Support (ITLS), and Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS).

General Scope of Duties 

The Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for making the monthly day and night schedules for the team 

Supervisory Function                                         

45% 

• Attend all EFRT Executive meetings, team meetings, and team trainings; 

• Volunteer for shifts and monitor the executive radio; 

• Enforce team protocol in accordance to the Operating Policy 

• Authorize any shift changes that are requested after the schedule has been posted 

Communications Function                            

45% 

• Collect availabilities and schedule shifts for the responders, as well as emailing and posting the schedule Compile and post statistics of all calls for each month 

Other             

10% 

• Assist the Training/Orientation Coordinator in planning orientation as well as aid in both orientation weekends 

• Participate in transition for the incoming Coordinator 

• Assist other Executive members as necessary 

• Maintain professionalism while engaged in EFRT activities 

• Review emergency call reports for quality assurance purposes

• Some duties can be performed while in the office, on call additional work must be completed at home

Training and Experience 

• Previous experience with EFRT is required 


• Emergency Medical Responder with CPR level HCP 


• Previous leadership experience 

Equipment 

• Basic computer software use 


• Knowledge of EFRT equipment including radio and first aid equipment
