Purpose:
Reporting directly to the Health & SafetySuperintendent,the Emergency Services Advisor willbe responsible forleading andmaintainingthe site’s emergencyresponsemanagementprograms (surfaceand mine rescue). Acting as the subject matter expert foremergency response, this role ensures emergency preparedness, regulatory compliance, training readiness, and effective response capabilities. The position works closely with internal leadership, Ontario Mine Rescue, and external emergency services tomaintaina high standard of emergency readiness and operational safety.
Responsibilities include:
Create weekly scheduling for the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Mine Rescue teams to ensure emergency readiness.
Support emergency response management and supply requirements to maintain operational preparedness.
Engage with departments and project teams to ensure alignment with emergency response requirements and preparedness expectations.
Plan and facilitate emergency response exercises in alignment with regulatory and organizational requirements
Serve as the primary point of contact with Ontario Mine Rescue and the Ministry of Labour on emergency management matters
Support the development, maintenance, and review of Mutual Aid Agreements with external stakeholders and emergency services
Conduct semi-annual reviews of the Emergency Response Plans (ERPs) to support change management initiatives.
Organize and support training programs for ERT and Mine Rescue personnel in collaboration with Ontario Mine Rescue and site leadership.
Verify that emergency response personnel meet training requirements and remain compliant with regulatory and company standards.
Maintain and audit emergency response equipment to ensure compliance with government regulations and company standards.
Organize and support Mine Rescue Competition Teams
Monitor and support the aircraftde-icing program, including personnel training, licensing requirements, and reagent inventory tracking.
Attend pre-start meetings and provide emergency management input as .
Contribute emergency management and safety performance data for weekly Safe Production meetings
Support monthly safety performance reporting, trend analysis, and compliance tracking
Conduct field visits to engage with the workforce and verify emergency response readiness
Ensure timely documentation, reporting, and adherence to established safety protocols
Skills and Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of Mine Rescue and Surface Emergency Response experience.
Minimum of 5 years working underground.
Minimum of 3 years volunteer Firefighter experience.
High level of knowledge in all aspects of emergency preparedness
Underground Common Core and Train the Trainer accreditation.
Computer literacy, including SAP, and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Solid understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
Advanced knowledge of Mine Rescue Management.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Effective motivation and presentation skills.
Strong time management skills.
Resourceful and innovative.
Working Conditions:
The Musselwhite gold mine in northwestern Ontario is a fly-in, fly outoperations and the schedule for this position will consist of 14 days on and 14 days off, 12 hours per day.
Compensation:
ThesalaryforthispositionisCAD$108,000 to $132,000 per year,dependingonskills, experience, and qualifications.
This role is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual short term incentive program. The target annual bonus for this position is 15% of base salary, subject to individual and company performance.
TheCompanyoffersaDefinedContributionPensionPlan(DCPP), includinganautomatic5% employer contribution, with the option for employees to receive upto an additional 4% employer matchon employee contributions.
