Employee Health and Safety Specialist

Description

• Support site compliance with Ministry of Labour and Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and local regulations through inspections, audits, and follow-ups.
• Respond to day-to-day EHS concerns and follow up to completion.
• Develop, update and maintain EHS Level II standard operating procedures, forms, process flow diagrams, training etc includes keeping current with regulatory requirements, best practices and internal global EHS requirements.
• Lead EHS risk assessments and implementation of corrective actions.
• Maintain, coordinate and organize EHS training program, such as PIT and any other Compliance requirements, including finance requirements e.g. gathering quotes, developing Pos etc.
• Perform regular site inspections to identify unsafe conditions, equipment issues, etc.
• Assist with data collection, verification and reporting for all EHS programs, especially Environmental regulations.
• Deliver and continuously improve EHS training sessions for new hires and recurring programs, with a strong focus on identifying and implementing opportunities for ongoing enhancement.
• Participate in incident investigations, support reporting process and collaborate with operations/ engineering in closing out Root Cause and Corrective Actions.
• Support and identify sustainability initiatives and employee engagement, such as recycling and energy conservation and assist with data collection, verification and reporting.
• Collaborate with facility, distribution, and operations teams to identify and mitigate EHS risks.
• Participate in Internal and External audits and support initiating innovative solutions and close findings.
• Actively contribute to achieving EHS KPI’s and ensure accurate and timely reflection of data across various EHS dashboards.
• Promote employee engagement in EHS programs and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate closely with EHS managers and the broader EHS team to implement and integrate EHS initiatives, while promoting best practice sharing across the campus and within the global EHS program.

Qualifications

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.

 2–4 years in an EHS-related role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.

CRST and working towards CRSP/EP/ROH or CIH

Strong attention to detail, good communication skills, familiarity with EHS software/tools, and ability to work independently.
