About the Program


WorkBC Employment Service Centres provide access to employment services including job search resources, skills assessment, training, work experience placement and online services. The services are provided at no cost to the participant and provides supports for job seekers looking for employment. WorkBC also provides services to employers looking to hire. Each ESC also provides a staffed resource room for self-service access to workstations and information.


Hours & Conditions of Work



  • Regular Full Time

  • 35 hours per week

  • Requires some evening and Saturday shifts


Position Summary


The Job Developer works collaboratively with the entire WorkBC team within the strategic objectives of Pacific Community Resource (PCRS) to ensure the provision, coordination and exceptional delivery of the WorkBC program. The Job Developer plays a key role in helping all participants find sustainable employment and works towards increasing employment outcomes by developing connections with a variety of employers. The Job Developer promotes and encourages inclusive hiring practices with employers.


Using a participant-centred, non-judgmental, strength-based approach, this role is varied, allowing for creative solutions to helping employers find the right employee to meet their employment needs. It is imperative that the Job Developer demonstrates the ability to support a diverse population and takes initiative to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for participants and staff.


Responsibilities



  • Market services to employers and community groups to increase awareness and benefits of hiring participants of WorkBC; introduce and promote all services and supports that benefit employers.

  • Use in person, outreach and technology to achieve objectives.

  • Develop employer connections and utilize employer data base to document positions and to help connect the right employer with the right participant.

  • Provide pre-screening services for employers to support their hiring needs.

  • Promote inclusive hiring practices to employers; understand the challenges facing individuals with significant barriers to entering the labour market and work with employers to create unique opportunities for both employers and participants.

  • Participate in local meetings of business associations.

  • Support Employment Specialists and participants by researching the local labour market, making connections with employers and supporting with job placement and sustainment.

  • Negotiate workplace opportunities and training incentives with employers to encourage participant hiring.

  • Promote access to the WorkBC centre to employers by offering regular meet and greet sessions and job fairs.

  • Perform administrative duties within designated timelines utilizing required data bases.

  • Support all centre initiatives such as hiring fairs, community engagement, and employer events as needed.

  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and staff; participate in team efforts.

  • Participate in staff meetings, committee meetings, staff training, and agency staff meetings.

  • Provide coverage for other roles for scheduled and unscheduled absences.

  • Represent WorkBC and PCRS professionally while participating in employer events, marketing and developing partnerships with employers.

  • Develop professional partnerships with external community agencies, employers and other stakeholders.

  • Participate on committees and working groups when appropriate.

  • Liaise with referring agencies and other professionals as required.

  • Participate in community engagement and centre events as needed.

  • Strong interpersonal, coaching and negotiation skills.

  • Professional level of communication, interpersonal and technological skills while working with diverse populations with varying needs.

  • Ability to work independently and plan tasks for productivity and efficiency.

  • Solid comprehension of Career Development and local Labour Market needs and trends.

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and follow WorkBC policies and the Employment Insurance Act.

  • Strong marketing and promotional techniques.

  • Excellent computer skills and administrative capability
