What will you do?



  • One-on-One Financial Coaching: This includes supporting participants to set personal financial goals, develop budgeting and money management skills, explore savings strategies, create plans for reducing debt, and use visual aids or simplified tools to support comprehension. Coaching is tailored to individual needs and delivered through trauma informed and client-centered approaches.

  • Benefits Navigation for Persons with Disabilities: The Specialist provides step-by-step support for participants navigating financial benefits related to disability. This includes supporting access to the Disability Tax Credit, the Canada Disability Benefit, and the Registered Disability Savings Plan. The Specialist will also assist with benefit activation and continuity when personal or financial circumstances change.

  • Financial Empowerment Group Sessions: The Specialist will deliver workshops for individuals identified as low income or experiencing financial stress. Sessions focus on financial planning, foundational budgeting concepts, and practical financial management tools   

  • Educating other Program Staff about the program

  • Administrative work and meetings with Team Lead   


 


What does it take to do this job?



  • Completion of post-secondary education, Bachelors Degree or Diploma, preferably in a related field such as Human Services, Disability, or Financial Planning. A combination of education and equivalent professional experience will also be considered.

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Minimum of one year experience working with people with disabilities.

  • Advanced workshop facilitation skills to groups of varying sizes.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate and build relationships across diverse groups.

  • Empathetic, enthusiastic, and driven to contribute to inclusive and creative environments.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in team settings.
