PROGRAM SUMMARY:
Within a person-centred framework, this role supports employment opportunities by customizing and coordinating job placements with employers. The Employment Facilitator works collaboratively with an employment team of participants, families, staff, and other employment agencies. This role delivers individual and group employment training, and develops systems for on-the-job coaching and follow-up services.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Working within a person-centred framework, responsibilities include:
Support individuals through referral and intake, discovery, employment preparation, job search, job maintenance and career advancement
Customize, coordinate, and provide direct and indirect supports for employment opportunities and job placement in conjunction with job seekers and employers
Work collaboratively with an employment team of the participants, families, Kinsight program staff, employers, other employment agencies and community partners
Marketing and job development
Supervise jobs coaches as required
Provide employment training and counseling both individually, and in groups
Provide support to employers to develop inclusive workplace practices and natural supports
Create and implement systems for on the job coaching and follow up services
QUALIFICATIONS:
Diploma or a Degree from a university or college of recognized standing in a field related to the position (e.g. Social Sciences).
Maintain a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal record check clearance throughout employment
A valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License
Required to use your own vehicle
First Aid with CPR
Willingness to work evenings/weekends (flextime)
MANDT training
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 3 years’ experience working in employment services with people with a developmental disability
Knowledge of alternative communication, customized employment for people with an intellectual disability
Knowledge of and experience working with community agencies and government systems and services, including Community Living BC
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal, including record keeping, reporting, facilitation, presentation and public speaking skills); ability to work as an effective team member and demonstrated practical experience in exercising independent judgment and initiative.
Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, organize tasks efficiently, and facilitate group processes with strong knowledge of best practices in the field.
HOURS OF WORK*:
Monday to Friday
37.5 hours/week (flextime)
*Schedule to be agreed upon with the Program Supervisor and based on the needs of the program and people supported.
