This position has a term length of one year plus one day from the date of hire.
Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person. Work primarily takes place at Enterprise Square, Edmonton.
Position Summary

If so, we invite you to join our team as an Employment Services Advisor at the University of Alberta.
As a key member of our HR Services team, you will play a critical role in supporting the entire employment journey of our faculty and staff — from their first day to their final farewell. You'll work closely with our Talent Acquisition team, HR Service Partners, Centres of Expertise, administrators, partners and colleagues across the institution to ensure all employment actions are processed accurately, consistently, and in compliance with collective agreements.
Responsibilities- Own the employment lifecycle: Process hires, promotions, transfers, secondments, leaves, retirements, and terminations using PeopleSoft HCM in addition to other systems and applications, and contribute to innovation and improvements.
- Ensure data integrity: Audit and validate HR transactions related to employment information, entitlements, and transactions in accordance with collective agreements.
- Advise and support: As a trusted advisor, provide guidance and training to clients across campus on employment-related processes, and application of policies, and collective agreement compliance.
- Drive efficiency: Monitor and improve process workflows for key employee actions such as probation periods, service dates, vacation balances, salary changes, and more.
- Leverage HR data: Run system queries, generate reports and analyze key employee data to support critical HR processes while ensuring data integrity across all transactions.
- Be responsive and resourceful: Respond to complex or escalated inquiries with discretion, professionalism, and a solutions-focused approach, drawing on deep knowledge of policy, process, and system workflows.
Qualifications- A diploma or degree in Human Resources or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of HR experience in a unionized setting, ideally in higher education.
- Strong working knowledge of enterprise HRIS systems (PeopleSoft preferred).
- Experience working with employment standards, collective agreements and policies, with the ability to navigate their application across complex HR processes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage detailed information accurately, organize competing priorities, and ensure timely follow-through.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative, service-first mindset.
