Dimatec is currently in search of a full-time Engineering Technician. This role is designed to provide support to youth workers between the ages of 16 and 29, facilitating their access to the labor market. It also presents the opportunity to collaborate closely with experienced professionals in the field of diamond tool manufacturing. The Engineering Technician (Young Employment Program) will assume a crucial role in the design, development, and creation of 3D models for an in-house project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the engineering team to design and develop 3D models for diamond-impregnated crowns using CAD software.
  • Work together with the engineering team to conduct research.
  • Assist in the manufacturing process, including prototyping, testing, and refining designs to meet quality standards and technical specifications.
  • Record documents of all design iterations, processes, and findings for future reference and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project milestones are met within the designated timeframe.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, developments, and emerging technologies relevant to this and future projects.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualification

*Position is subject to conditions set by the Young Employment Program

Qualifications:

  • To facilitate the involvement of young talent in the workforce and align with the Young Employment Program, eligible candidates should be under 30 years of age at the commencement of employment. *
  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or person granted refugee status in Canada. *
  • Legally entitled to work according to the Manitoba legislation and regulations. *
  • Preference will be given to Priority Youth including recent immigrant youth and recent refugee youth; youth who are Indigenous; youth with disabilities; minorities; LGBTQ2 youth; and women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)*.
  • Be a first-time participant in a Youth Employment and Skills Strategy work experience program targeted at post-secondary graduates. *
  • Have graduated in the last year from a postgraduate program in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. *

Key Competencies

  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidEdge) for 3D modeling and design.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong English communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing equipment and processes is desirable.
  • Knowledge of down-the-hole drilling equipment and diamond tool manufacturing is considered an asset.
