Company Description

Mission is located on the unceded, ancestral, and shared territory of the Stó:lō Peoples, specifically on Leq’á:mel, Semá:th, Máthexwi, Kwantlen, Sq’éwlets, and Katzie traditional territories in the lower mainland of BC. Job Description

The City of Mission is seeking an experienced Engineering Technologist 3 – Asset Management to join our Engineering & Capital Projects Department on a temporary full-time basis for 8 months, subject to possible extension. This position performs advanced technical work related to the planning, development, implementation and administration of lifecycle management plans for municipal infrastructure assets.

The successful candidate will support asset management programs by maintaining asset data and software, developing condition monitoring programs, conducting inspections, assessing municipal infrastructure assets, estimating service life and replacement costs, and preparing related reports and recommendations. The role also involves supporting municipal construction contracts, consultant assignments, cost estimates, GIS and asset management database coordination, and the preparation of technical correspondence, reports and presentations as required.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary degree in Civil or Structural Engineering Technology, or a recognized equivalent, along with at least five years of related experience in a municipal engineering environment. Experience with asset lifecycle reporting and costing, contract preparation and contract management is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Candidates must have membership, or eligibility for membership, with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians Association of BC and possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence. Strong technical, analytical, communication and organizational skills are required, along with the ability to work independently and establish effective working relationships with internal and external contacts.

Additional Information

The hours of work will be Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm on a 9-day fortnight schedule (extended hours for nine days and one day off every two weeks).The 2025 hourly rate for this CUPE position is $57.63 plus 4.4% in lieu of benefits increasing to 12.4% upon completion of the probationary period.
