The Opportunity
APC is seeking one (1) Equipment Operator 2 6-mth term position who is responsible for the day-to-day operation of equipment that ensures APC grounds are upheld to the highest quality standards and aesthetics according to APC’s master plan. The incumbent will perform skilled grounds and equipment operation work in the maintenance of all turf areas including lawns, meadows, pastures, animal habitats, and green roofs with a very diverse collection of plant material. Responsibilities include: snow removal, skim ponds, sweep up debris, keep the ground free of litter, removal of manure and bedding, and perform related duties as required. The incumbent may be required to work with other horticulture, Leaf, and zoo teams to ensure lawns are mowed, hedges are trimmed, trees and shrubs are pruned, and materials are distributed across the park.
The incumbent will be responsible to conduct equipment inspections; document and track equipment utilization; identify and report mechanical issues and problems; perform hands-on duties related to troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of specific APC equipment; schedule, coordinate and/or conduct routine maintenance and equipment repairs with external vendors. The incumbent may be responsible for project management of small to medium size construction projects as directed.
