ESL Teacher (Summer Position)
Canadian International Student Services

Canadian International Student Services (CISS) is currently looking for enthusiastic and hard-working ESL teachers to work mornings (and possibly some afternoons) during the summer months. Candidates should be energetic, organized, creative, and team oriented. They must enjoy working with youth and be willing to embrace the diverse cultural environment we offer at our programmes.

Location:

• Teachers will teach downtown at or near the University of Toronto 's Trinity College Campus.

Qualifications:

• Must have either Bachelor of Education and/or TESL certificate recognized by TESL Canada (ie. CELTA)


• Previous ESL teaching experience in Canada or overseas is preferred


• Experience working in a camp or language school setting and/or with children/youth is preferred


• Strong leadership and organizational skills


• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with students from different cultural backgrounds


• Energetic, enthusiastic, and a strong sense of responsibility


• Police Reference Check required

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Assessing students' language needs, planning lessons, teaching to the appropriate level, and providing student reports


• Sourcing appropriate teaching materials and resources that align with the CISS curriculum guidelines provided


• Planning and supervising educational excursions (where required)


• Maintaining accurate class attendance records and information the Camp Office of any student absenteeism or lateness


• Creating a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel confident to demonstrate self-expression


• Attending all staff meetings with the Head Teacher, as required


• Other related duties as assigned

Job Details:

• CISS Curriculum outline and teaching resources are provided


• Pre-Camp training is provided for all teaching staff


• Maximum class size of 15-18 students


• Lesson hours depend on the programme. CISS Toronto is from 08:30-12:15 each Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. CISS at Trinity is from 09:00-12:45 each Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday PLUS from 2:30pm - 4:30pm on Mondays and Wednesdays.


• Teacher receive an additional 2 hours pay each week (over regular teaching hours) to compensate for any meetings or reports that need to be done


• Pay is $26 per hour
