Our client is a local leader in the construction industry with decades of success in delivering quality projects on time. This company has engaged Jay Pinniger of Lock Search Group to assist them in their search for an Estimating Manager to join their team in the Greater Edmonton region. In the role of Estimating Manager, you will be pivotal in managing the estimation process for a range of Modular construction projects. Your main duties will include leading a team of estimators, analyzing project specifications, crafting precise cost estimates, and ensuring that projects are priced competitively while adhering to quality standards and client expectations. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in construction estimating, exceptional leadership skills, and a meticulous eye for detail.

You will be responsible for:

• Oversee and direct a team of estimators to guarantee the prompt and precise preparation of cost estimates for construction projects.
• Work in close collaboration with project managers, architects, engineers, and other key stakeholders to thoroughly comprehend project requirements, specifications, and limitations.
• Examine project plans, blueprints, and related documents to formulate detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and other project-related expenses.
• Employ estimating software and tools to conduct quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, and pricing for diverse construction elements and assemblies.
• Investigate and assess subcontractor and vendor proposals to secure the most competitive pricing and ensure alignment with project specifications.
• Create and sustain a cost database and historical records to facilitate precise estimating and budgeting for upcoming projects.
• Offer guidance and support to the estimating team through mentoring, training, and conducting performance evaluations.
• Liaise with procurement and supply chain departments to secure material and equipment pricing, negotiate vendor contracts, and establish supply agreements.
• Take part in pre-construction meetings, bid evaluations, and client presentations to discuss project scope, budget, and scheduling.
• Keep track of market trends, material costs, and industry developments to identify potential cost savings and process enhancement opportunities.
• Ensure that all estimates comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Work with senior management to develop strategic goals and initiatives for the estimating department, contributing to the company's overall success and growth.

Qualifications:

• Possession of a bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related discipline, and/or extensive experience (5+ years) in construction estimating, preferably within the modular construction industry.
• High level of proficiency with construction estimating software and tools, including Bluebeam, Microsoft Business Central, and ProjectPro.
• Exceptional analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail, with the capability to analyze and interpret complex project documentation and specifications.
• Proven leadership capabilities, encompassing team management, coaching, and overseeing performance.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex information in a clear and concise manner.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks efficiently, and adhere to strict deadlines.
• Comprehensive knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards pertaining to modular construction.
• Well-versed in construction contracts, subcontractor agreements, and procurement processes.
• Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
