Responsibilities:
Operate excavators (track or hydraulic) for digging, trenching, backfilling, and material handling
Perform daily pre-use machine inspections and routine maintenance
Safely position and maneuver loads, ensuring site coordination
Accurately follow site plans, grade stakes, and directions from supervisors
Adhere to all site safety protocols and report hazards promptly
Maintain tidy work zones and protect equipment from damage
Qualifications & Must Haves:
Heavy Equipment Operator ticket or equivalent certification from a recognized BC training provider (e.g., PTIB-approved)
Courses typically include excavator operation, safety theory, and practical assessments
Safety tickets: CSTS, WHMIS, and Ground Disturbance Level 2 are commonly required
Additional certifications like First Aid, TDG, or H2S are considered assets
Completion of a heavy equipment operator apprenticeship or training program (1–2 years)
Proven experience operating excavators in construction or civil environments
Nice to Haves (But Not Necessary):
Have access to own vehicle or reliable transportation.
Has Fall Protection, First Aid and/or WHMIS.
Lives Close to Vancouver.
