The Role

To assist in this work, we are seeking a Facilities & Maintenance Worker (Level 1) to join our growing team. This role is essential in ensuring that our facilities, buildings, and surrounding grounds are safe, clean, and well-maintained. The ideal candidate is hands-on, proactive, and experienced in general maintenance, custodial duties, and minor repairs.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of buildings and grounds.


• Assist with electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry tasks, excluding major trades work.


• Maintain clean and presentable facilities, ensuring a welcoming environment for staff, residents, and visitors.


• Respond to maintenance requests, troubleshoot issues, and complete minor repairs.


• Support the setup and breakdown of events and meetings.


• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and procedures.


• Work collaboratively with other staff to uphold the Mission’s standards and values.


• Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

• Experience in facility maintenance, building repairs, or a related field.


• Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems.


• Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.


• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.


• Willingness to work in all weather conditions and respond to emergency situations.


• First Aid Level 1 and WHMIS certification (or willingness to obtain).

This position reports to the Maintenance Manager - work is conducted across all Ruth and Naomi's facilities in Chilliwack BC. Hours for this role are currently Monday-Friday 7:30am-3:30pm but are subject to change.
