Job Description - Family Partnerships Coordinator

  • Help young Australians to improve their long-term educational outcomes

  • Flexible work arrangements to give you more balance, including hybrid working

  • Permanent full-time position based in Long Jetty, NSW

The Smith Family is a national children’s education charity that works with children and young people to overcome educational inequality caused by poverty – so they can thrive now and into their futures.

About the role

Our Learning for Life program provides emotional, practical, and financial support to help children and young people experiencing disadvantage with their education. Our support starts in the early years of learning development and continues through primary and high school.

As part of the Learning for Life team, the Family Partnership Coordinator works with families in the Blue Haven and Wyong communities, using referrals, links to programs, and community relationships to support strong school attendance, achievement, and post-school pathways.

As a Family Partnership Coordinator, you will:

  • Take a family-centred approach, building partnerships with Learning for Life families

  • Connect with partner schools in the community to support referral to the Learning for Life Program

  • Complete administrative tasks and data entry to help plan your day and focus your efforts on supporting families and students with educational outcomes

  • Engage with community organisations, linking families to services, information, and support

  • Contribute as a valued member of the Learning for Life Team and collaborate with the broader organisation

  • Focus on personal and professional growth, including on-the-job skill development and regular coaching with your leader

Hear from those in the role:  “It’s a privilege – and so enjoyable – meeting a new family for the first time and bringing them on to Learning for Life. Hearing about their experience and their determination to create a strong future for their children is inspiring.”  – Family Partnership Coordinator

  • Computer literacy and motivation; completing administrative or data entry tasks and achieving personal and professional goals within your team

  • A current driver’s licence
