FAMILY VIOLENCE OUTREACH WORKER

Job purpose: The Community Outreach (Off-Reserve) worker is responsible for providing a broad range of support, education, and crisis intervention services to individuals affected by (or likely to be affected by) interpersonal violence with the goal of guiding clients to a path of self-sufficiency that includes transfer of knowledge, strength, healthy habits, tools for change, and the confidence to make informed choices.

• Competent in critical problem-solving and analytical decision making


• Robust communication, conflict resolution, and relationship management skills


• Capable of working independently and as part of a team


• Sound ethical judgment and ability to maintain professional boundaries


• Ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with all federal and provincial requirements


• Proficiency in compiling data and developing statistical reports


• Comfortable with public speaking and giving presentations


• Strong time and task management skills


• Awareness of, and sensitivity to, the unique circumstances and needs of the community


• Demonstrated experience working with disadvantaged adults who are experiencing homelessness, substance use, mental health, and/or barriers to independence

Job Assets and Specific Requirements:

• Completed post-secondary education, preferably in Social Work, Human Justice, or another relevant human services field.


• At least 2 years’ experience in a human services field


• Valid Saskatchewan driver’s license


• Ability to pass a Vulnerable Sector Check


• Ability to speak Cree and/or Dene


• Knowledgeable on resources within the community & methods of access


• Completed relevant training such as Safe Talk, ASIST, Mental Health First Aid, Sexual Assault First Responder, Motivational Interviewing, etc.
