Fiber Technician

Position Summary

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented fiber technician to install, test, maintain, and troubleshoot fiber optic networks. The ideal candidate takes pride in quality workmanship, works well independently and as part of a team, and follows safety and industry standards.

Position Title: Electrical Supervisor 

Location: Mosaic/Nutrien 

Closing: Position will remain open until a successful candidate is hired

Key Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, and test fiber optic cables (aerial and/or underground)


• Perform splicing, connectorization, and fiber testing (OTDR, power meter, light source)


• Troubleshoot and repair fiber optic network issues


• Read and interpret fiber prints, schematics, and work orders


• Document work completed, test results, and materials used


• Maintain tools, equipment, and work vehicles


• Follow safety procedures and company standards at all times


• Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and customers
  

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience working with fiber optic cable installation and splicing


• Ability to use fiber testing equipment


• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation


• Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and on ladders
  


• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills


• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written


• Valid driver’s license


• Ability to work day and night shifts

Preferred Qualifications 

• Journeyperson Electrician 


• Industry certifications (e.g., FOA, ETA, manufacturer certifications)


• Experience with OTDR testing and troubleshooting


• Experience with underground fiber


• Knowledge of local safety regulations and standards


• Experience with giber patching 


• Previous telecommunications or utility experience
